Warm Means Infection

0 Comments | , , , , , and

Well in that last 18 or so days since I last posted, not much has happened. My new job is going reasonably well. I never expected to be anything great but the money is good. It's so nice to be able to pay bills again.

Last Sunday I was stung by a bee. It was only the second time I was ever stung. The fires time was in a car after driving for 15 or 20 minuets with the windows up. That was a big surprise. This time was not so unusual. In fact it was really no big deal, until the next morning. When I woke up my bee stung forearm was very swollen. I assumed it was just an allergic reaction. After two days it was not getting any better. While at work today I got several suggestions to see a doctor. They wore me down. I left work a little early to I could get to the doc.

The doctor's diagnosis was a surprise to us both. Some how the sting got infected. Yes, it's not an allergy, it's an infection. The doc was a little dumbfounded as to how that was possible. It happened at the paint ball field. One of the least cleaned places on Earth. If a sting ever could get infected, that would be the place.

And a bit of useful information when diagnosing your own ailments. Apparently the fact that is is warm to the touch is the key. If it was an allergy, it would not be warm. Warm means infection.

I am so screwed

Well today was the last day of class. That was all part of the plan. But it was also the last day of y new part time bookkeeping/secretary job. I was their third candidate. The first two didn't last more than 2 days. I was there 2 weeks. In the end they decided nobody was going to be able to do the job and the decided to outsource it to a bookkeeping & payroll service.

Now I am with out any real work again. Paintball is only realistically $50 a day, and 2 days a week. I'm going to need more. That also means, I can't upgrade my computer as planned, because I don't know how long I'll be unemployed.
